I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Registered Play Therapist and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC), I have a private practice, “Caring Canine: Animal Assisted Play Therapy, LLC where I incorporates her therapy dog in therapy sessions. My play therapy focus is in the area of trauma and attachment. I have been trained with internationally known play therapist, Dr. Rise VanFleet in Animal Assisted Play Therapy. In addition to my play therapy practice, Theresa operates an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program, “The Unbridled Journey.” I am certified as an Equine Assisted Psychotherapist with Equine Assisted Growth and Learning (EAGALA) and is the networking coordinator for the state of Arkansas for the international organization. Equine therapy can be used in treating substance abuse, trauma, domestic violence, anger management and many other issues for individuals and families. I have an undergraduate degree in Social Work and masters in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arkansas. Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I also have worked in vocational rehabilitation counseling, specializing in traumatic brain injury.
